About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org is actively working to help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets—when every pet is guaranteed a loving family environment. In furthering this mission through its “No More Homeless Pets” outreach program, Best Friends Animal Society collaborates with its members and other animal welfare organizations to help organize spay/neuter, shelter, foster, and adoption programs in their own neighborhoods.

Located in the beautiful red-rock country of southern Utah, Best Friends also offers the largest sanctuary in the United States for abused and abandoned animals. On any given day, the sanctuary is home to approximately 1,800 dogs, cats, burros, horses, wild birds, rabbits, and other animals.

Best Friends participates in the PetGuardian Pet Trust program, helping to ensure continuing care for pets whose owners die or become incapacitated. If the designated caregiver is unable to fulfill his or her commitment under the terms of the PetGuardian Pet Trust Plan, Best Friends Animal Society will assume responsibility for finding an appropriate "backup caregiver" for the pets.*

*This service will be provided only if the pet owner has sufficiently funded the pet trust plan and designated a minimum of two potential caregivers.

The Best Friends website, at www.bestfriends.org, is updated weekly with news about the sanctuary and news about No More Homeless Pets efforts and programs around the country. The website also provides resources to help individuals and organizations help animals.
