About PetGuardian

PetGuardian’s Primary Objectives

Encouraging pet owners to prepare for the possibility of predeceasing their pets.
  • Providing responsible pet owners with a legitimate solution to the concern that their pets could end up in animal shelters if the pet owners do not prepare accordingly.
  • Offering peace of mind to caring pet owners.
  • Significantly reducing the number of pets unnecessarily euthanized at animal shelters and at veterinarians nationwide.
Background Facts

Reality: The animal shelter is the most common option pet owners use when they can no longer take care of their pets. Millions of responsible pet owners and their families are faced with placing faithful pet companions in shelters as their only option once a pet owner is no longer able to care for them. With great despair, it is recognized that these pets will likely not get adopted and could be euthanized.

Crises: The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the oldest and one of the largest animal protection organizations in the United States, claims that approximately 8-12 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year and approximately 5-9 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats). Less than 2 percent of cats and only 15-20 percent of dogs are returned to their owners. It is estimated that more than 500,000 pets are euthanized at shelters and at veterinarians as a result of pet owners predeceasing their pets.

PetGuardian provides comprehensive and affordable pet trust plans for responsible pet owners. These plans help to ensure that pets will be taken care of should their owner die or become too ill to care for their pets.
