As a devoted pet parent, I am blessed by the steadfast loyalty, unconditional love, and companionship my pets provide. I try to repay this gift with my own love, and with the very best care I can offer. The right food. The right exercise program. The right veterinary attention. The right medications.
But as a responsible pet owner, I face this troubling dilemma: “How can I ensure that my pets would continue to receive proper care if I were unable to provide it myself?”
It’s a disturbing thought. The sad reality is that, unless I make the appropriate arrangements, my pets could be euthanized in a shelter or veterinary office if I die or become incapacitated. I’ve witnessed this unfortunate situation time and time again, as a volunteer at local animal shelters. According to one estimate, one-half million pets are euthanized in shelters each year because their human caregivers have predeceased them.
I have worked closely with Best Friends Animal Society, estate planners, and animal care professionals to provide a new service for pet owners that makes it possible to close the circle of love and ensure continuous care for beloved animal companions. In close association with Best Friends Animal Society, a simple and affordable PetGuardian Pet Trust Plan offers the best way to reward your pet’s unconditional love.
